Fred Smith

Fred Smith is a longtime Oakdale resident, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and small business owner. He founded Fred’s Firearms in 2008 and has served the community as a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy, former SWAT member, and firearms instructor. Fred previously served on the Oakdale City Council from 2020–2024 and is running again in 2026 as part of the Oakdale First Conservatives ticket.

With real experience in the military, law enforcement, and local business, Fred is focused on public safety, supporting small businesses, fiscal responsibility, and practical solutions that put Oakdale residents first.

Chris Chavez is a longtime Oakdale resident and small business owner who has operated local gas stations, restaurants, retail, and previously Gamers Garage. A former Apple team member on the original iPhone launch and 5.11 Tactical employee, he now helps with operations at Fred’s Firearms and runs the popular Oakdale News and Incident Feed community group.

Running with Fred Smith on the Oakdale First Conservatives ticket, Chris is focused on greater transparency, public safety, stopping unnecessary rate and tax increases, and supporting local businesses.
